MOOG COMPACT
ELECTROHYDROSTATIC ACTUATION SYSTEM

Moog Compact Electrohydrostatic Actuation System (Compact EAS)

Moog has designed its Compact Electrohydrostatic Actuation System (Compact EAS) to effectively control linear motion for all industrial applications requiring high density and high dynamics. Like all Moog EAS actuation systems, the Compact EAS provides an attractive alternative to traditional electrohydraulic (EH) or electromechanical (EM) systems.

As a highly integrated and closed system, the Compact EAS consists of a servo motor, internal gear pump, compensation tank, valve block, stop valve, and cylinder. No piping or additional hoses are required which allows for a more simplified solution.

The Compact EAS is available in three configurations in its standard format: Linear, in which the cylinder is on the same axis as the motor;  Parallel, in which the cylinder is underneath the valve block and moves in the opposite direction; Orthogonal, where the cylinder is mounted vertically underneath the valve block. There is also a “split” design, in which the cylinder forms its own unit separate from the motor and pump group, without losing any of the advantages of the basic concept.

Benefits
  • High force capability and force density that provides an attractive alternative to EH and EM actuation
  • Low noise emission for quiet machine operation
  • Environmentally clean due to a lower oil requirement compared to the standard systems
  • High energy efficiency
  • Easy maintenance thanks to the reduced number of components
